The Royal Sasquatch (USA) - 9/10
Yeah, you heard me. Power metal from Taiwan. Symphonic power metal, sort of like Nightwish, but there's still several differences. First of all, their singer's voice is not as high as Tarja's. Also, the songs are longer, more progressive, and feature guitar solos a lot more. This CD is over 70 minutes long with only 11 songs (and an outro), and only at a couple instances begins to bore you. That's why this CD isn't getting a 10/10.
I can distinguish between every song, so obviously it isn't too repetitive. The only thing that ever gets repetitive is vocal melody anyway, and that's a problem because the vocals were produced sound quite a bit over the music. Other than this, though, I can't find anything wrong with the CD. All of the songs have really cool riffs, none of the solos sound lame, and everything mashes together well. Some songs I like more are "Song of Death" because of the harsh vocals and "The Equal Spirit" for the same reason, but also because it's the real epic of the CD. I think that if they put the death vocals in every song they'd get called a Nightwish rip-off less often.
Summarized, it's a good CD. Not very easy to get ahold of at all, but if you can (for a reasonable price) purchase it. Since it's from Taiwan, though, the shipping might be expensive. I'm not sure that you have another option since because of how unknown this band is you will find no one to download it from. I just want to contribute my praise to the band so that hopefully they'll grow more and get more fans.
